Where Would You Keep YOUR Treasure??

I am a trunk junkie. I mean, I love trunks. Old trunks. Big trunks. Pirate trunks. I'm sure that, at some point in time, this was a real pirate's trunk. And now it is ours. Just don't look too closely. It's old and needs a little TLC before being put back into commission. Maybe some cleaning and scrubbing, sanding or sealing... Anyway, it will be put to good use. I was also told that it needs air holes. Silly me, the trunk junkie.

  1. Swimming trunks?

Air holes, eh? Plan to keep that boy of yours inside? I have an old trunk also, hiding away in the top of Barn 1.

I am betting that old trunk of yours was once filled with priceless treasures, jewels, and gold bullion. Maybe even a peanut butter sandwich.

  2. In my Grandfathers trunk I kept an... apple pie.

Air holes in case anyone ever gets locked in. Mr. Lan... lost twins cousins in one long ago. Their poor mother.

Beware of collecting trunks cause with collecting things that you can store things in...you begin to collect more things to store ;-)

That being said. I want uncle james to make me a simple, yet elegant cedar trunk one day. I can't find the one I want, so who better to make me one than my amazing uncle.

    Store something good for me!

  4. I love trunks too. I used to look at them on line all the time, but they were so expensive. I've also spotted them at "The Craft Antique Co op" before, but again...always too pricey. I saw an old beat up one in someone's junk here in our neighborhood once a couple years ago and hesitated on picking it up because it needed so much work. A couple of hours after 1st seeing it, I decided I wanted it and went back for it, but someone had beat me to it. :( I am still trunkless because I suppose I am waiting for that "perfect" one. Have fun restoring it! Where'd ya get it?

  5. I got it at an estate sale for $10. I was hesitant only because of the condition of the trunk. It needs a lot of cleaning and the banding is a but rustier than I would like, but I still couldn't pass it up.

  8. I love these kinds of things too! I found one in someone's dumpster about 10 years ago. It's beautiful and in my living room.

I'm looking forward to the after picture!
