To Swap or Not to Swap?
I've been filling in at work for a girl who is on maternity leave. Last night when my boss, Mary, came in to work, she was in quite the mood. She had just spent the last hour having a phone interview with a woman from Wife Swap. Mary hadn't applied for this kind of thing and hasn't even watched the show more than once. She was giddy with pleasure for being singled out from so many. The producers had been looking for a small business owner of a candy shop, and Mary's just happened to be one of the names that showed up. She hasn't signed anything or even sent in a formal application to be on the show yet, but it sure had us all talking last night. It's rather funny imagining her, her husband and her three daughters actually going through with this. I have to admit, Mary can be quite entertaining. :) She is receiving mixed advice about whether or not to send in the formal application. She could be getting into more than she bargained for! Thankfully, the producers are sending her a bunch of information and videos of the show, to help her decide if this is really something she'd like to do. I, personally, am not sure what advice to give her. It undoubtedly would be the most interesting show that I would ever want to see... Mary, on TV. And I think that might be the only reason I'd say, "Go for it!" That and it's only for two weeks. But on the other hand, I wouldn't recommend handing my home, business and, most importantly, my children to some stranger that I had never met. All for our television viewing pleasure. I couldn't stand the thought of someone with completely different morals (or lack thereof) running my household and my life, even if it was only for a week. Mary most likely will decide to turn down the offer for the sake of her family, but will relish in pleasure being offered such a opportunity. What would your advice be??

Oh my goodness! That does make for some interesting work conversation! My advice would be NOT to swap. Although it can be very interesting to watch (I have seen it a few times), I always think how I could never stand to do that. It does seem that some people do benefit from this, I just don't think I could do it. Let us know what happens!
Hi! I had to come check out your blog. Interesting post. I would like to think that I would say "no way". Really I have no idea.
Poor Peter! Does he have a say in this? (Of course he does.) Is his English good enough to handle swapping wives? Could make things even more interesting, I guess. I'd think a small town like this would be very forgiving if the "temporary owner" didn't do too well, afterall we all love Mary. Even Rock Star loves her, remember!
I wouldn't want anyone taking my place, and I wouldn't want to take anyone else's...no thanks!
I don't know if Peter could handle it! That's what makes the prospect so funny... Poor Peter wouldn't know what to do with some strange American woman in his house, trying to tell him how to run his household. It makes me laugh just to think of it.
Oh, I could never do that either ~~ but WOW, to be offered the chance is pretty awesome.
I have seen the show, and thought, I know they would put some witch or something with my family because the pit opposites against eachother. So I'm thinking a no sugar nut? Hmmm. Interesting that they'd seek out a candy store owner. I'd say no, but it'd definitely be interesting to watch! It does make families appreciate what they've got!
PS- I am home from church and done putting all three boys to bed, and need to clean my house for an evalutation Isaac is having tomorrow. Instead I'm checking out blogs...not good!
I'm sort of wondering if the call has anything to do with her long haied blond visitor a few weeks ago....
I thought about that... Maybe he put in a good word for her in the television biz.
Hi Bethany, thanks for visiting my blog....I would say no too, but it would be so neat to see Mary and her fam on TV! WOW, I'm sure the whole interview was an experience in itself!
You might be happy to know I have a HUGE bag of gently used clothes for baby Josh. Maybe I could leave them in your vehicle one of these days when you are at work?
Wow!! I'd say no - they seem to put total opposite people against each other and try to create drama!!
I wonder if they're looking for a candy store owner to put against a total health nut or gym owner or something like that?! I don't know... I can't think of any other opposites! But those don't seem that extreme really...
