I'm Not "Grown" Up... Are You?
I've been thinking about time lately and how it changes everything. Well, almost everything. Time just marches on. We grow older and wiser. But not too much more mature. These pictures prove it. The first is from June 2006. The group of us had gone out to celebrate Elisabeth's (the dark one on the far right) 20th birthday. The second and third photo is from a couple weeks ago when we went out to celebrate the end of Elisabeth's single life. For the most part, the only things that look different is our purses and clothing and maybe hairstyles. But in reality, much has changed. Going from left to right in the second photo: Jane got engaged was about to be hitched, Wilson graduated from college and is teaching Third Grade Special Ed., I had a baby, Carissa has fallen in looove and gotten engaged, and Roxanne (who was pregnant in the first photo) had her second baby. But as you can tell in the last photo, we haven't quite grown up yet. Deep inside (or maybe not that deep), we are still goofy girls who laugh loudly and tell silly stories just like we did when we were 10 or 12 or 17... Catch us when we don't have our "grown-up" faces on and you might be surprised! But then, I bet you're not all that grown up either.

Very cute. You girls are beautiful! I love that you still get together with your friends. Soon you'll be meeting at the park with a slew of little ones...
And you are right, deep inside (or maybe not so deep) I am not really all grown up either. I miss the gales of laughter my friends and I shared not so long ago, overnights at the cottage, and Moms night out... Where have all my friends gone?
It feels like I was married to Uncle Dave such a very short time ago, and it has already been 16 and a half years. I was only 22 (just shy of 23) when we married. It is truly amazing to me how fast time has gone. I can't believe I will have a child in high school next year...YIKES!
Those are great pictures of you and your friends!
I agree, Bethany. Lots of the time, I have my grown-up face on and am dealing with the serious side of life, but then there are times....like times with my sister when we can laugh and laugh about stories from long ago and how funny our lives can be. I am glad that we keep that part of the ungrown-up inside of us!
And, Martha, I'm here in NJ!!!
Loved the pictures ~~ Before the move, I had about 10 lady friends that I grew up with...we met once a month for lunch ~~ We called ourselves the "Lunch Bunch" and we were all in our 60 or 70 and guess what...None of us every grew up.
So have fun for the rest of your lives.... (((smile)))
