Babble

I'm in a blogging slump. I have nothing exciting to say. Not that life is boring, but that my mind doesn't want to write anything of any interest. I want to write endless babble. We had a bridal shower for one of my best friends today. She getting married in June and I am a bridesmaid. We bridesmaids are wearing pretty yellow dresses. Joshua has seven teeth and things are getting painful around the house. Especially when he screams his ear piercing scream. Ouch. There have been several beautiful days in a row and I still have not raked all the rocks back into the driveway that were plowed out during the winter. Adam is going to wash the dishes tonight because my hands are cracking in their dryness. He is a good man. Endless babble...

On a side note, if you remember an old post I wrote about my friend Sarah who was pregnant and had that disease which made her itch... Well, they were going to induce her next Tuesday, but when she went to the Dr's this week, they found she had pre-eclampsia. Sarah was induced Thursday evening and her baby was born Friday morning around 5:30. Ella was 6 lbs 10 oz and is beautiful (I hear). She was due May 10th. Praise the Lord for a healthy baby. That was not endless babble :)

Work and Sickies

It is the second day in a row that I have been called in to work because of a sicky. Today it is the cook. No, I am not going in to cook, but to cover the person covering the cook. I must admit, I do not want to go. I want to stay at home, cuddling my boy and kissing his fatness. But when there are not many people to fill in, I am the old stand-by. We have one girl on vacation and one on maternity leave (due on Monday). And into that mix spring vacation, and that leaves me. Poo, poo. I am feeling sorry for myself ;) Thankfully it is only for a few hours and not all day. It will be busy and time will pass quickly. Before I know it, I will be back in the chubby arms of the one I love. Or visa-versa.

Chomping and Grinding

As of last Friday(ish), my little 5 1/2 month old boy is the proud owner of six, and I repeat, six teeth. Two bottom and four top. It doesn't seem right that a boy so young should have so much responsibility. To keep his teeth in good shape he must chew, grind, suck and bite with them. Nearly at all times, you can hear him grinding away, enjoying the new-found treasures in his mouth. One cannot stick their fingers in his mouth now, without a good chomping. My Father, on the other hand, has many years of practicing his toothy ways. He no longer will bite if you get too close nor does he grind his teeth. Except maybe when sleeping, I am not sure. Dad has rows and rows of gleaming whites and religiously brushes them before bed and upon waking up in the morning. I can only hope that Josh will take after his Grandpa when it comes to dental care.

Kissy Lips

Now that I've found out how to put movies on my blog, I've been taking all sorts of very boring movies trying to capture a truly unique and special moment. It's not as easy as I hoped, but for starters, here is Joshua practicing his kisses. Try to ignore the woman's voice in the background. Ew.

When in a Pickle, You Better Hope it's Not Dill.

I hope you all have been enjoying watching Josh swim in the bathtub. He is quite the amazing little swimmer :)

Today was a crazy day. My morning was a typical morning- relaxed and rather slow. But at 11:45, I received a phone call from my boss who was in quite the tizzy. She was short one employee and had to be in the kitchen cooking, leaving no one to run the register out front. Desperate for help and feeling guilty for calling so short notice, she asked me to please come in to help and "Bring Joshua if you need to... Peter (her husband) will hold him for you." Josh was taking his nap at the time, but seeing as the general public doesn't want to wait for my baby to wake up to have lunch, I woke him and packed him into the car. We sped off to the restaurant to see if the two of us could save the day and get everyone out of the pickle they were in. Peter was more than willing to hold Josh for me while I helped the girls get back in order. He sang him little songs that went kinda like this, "Joshua, Joshua. Joshua, Joshua." Except sounding a bit more like a heavy Greek accent. Josh was behaving himself like a good little boy and everyone who saw him said he was so "beautiful". As his mother, I am rather biased, and readily agreed. Eventually we decided that I would get Josh's stroller from my car so Peter wouldn't have to hold him the entire time. While I was in the parking lot, I saw my Mom's van. She had been picking up Troy (the boy she babysits) from preschool, which happens to be next door to the restaurant. I was one grateful cookie when she agreed to switch vehicles with me and take Josh back to her house while I was at work. She is such a nice lady! Needless to say, I got almost zero housework or yard work done today because, after work, I went to my parent's house and stayed the afternoon and for supper. I am so glad to live close to my parents and for their willingness to help me out when I'm in a bind. So I take this moment to thank them for what nice parents they are. I love you Mom and Dad!

And on a side note, Happy belated birthday to my Father who is over 40, but not yet 50. I failed to put up a birthday post for him on the sixth because I was busy at a baby shower. Oups...

A Favorite Pastime

There are a few things that my Josh really enjoys and bath time has to be one of them. He just loves to splash his Mommy and, I must say, that I rather love it too.

Made For You, With Love

Today has been a nice quiet sort of day, spent at home doing home like things. Josh has had a sleepy day (probably from coughing so much last night) and that leaves me with time to clean. By mid afternoon, I was wondering what I should do next. It had to be something fairly quiet but not any huge sort of project. Cookies have been sounding awful good lately, so I decided that's what I would do... make cookies. I made a batch of Old-Fashioned Sour Cream Cookies, which I have not had in ages and are oh, so yummy. I have already eaten enough to have lasted me a couple days. I better draw the line somewhere or else there will be none left for Adam. Or I could eat as many as I can now because when Adam gets a hold of them, there won't be any left for me. Hmm... What to do, what to do?

Little Josh has been sick this past week. He cut his third tooth last Thursday and along with the tooth came a runny nose, goopy eyes and a bad cough. I was tempted to call the doctor but, seeing as he didn't have a fever and was acting as happy as usual, I have been waiting it out. He seems to be much better today and I think I made a good call. It's hard to know exactly what to do, especially since I'm kinda new at this mothering business. Hopefully his next several teeth won't be so hard on him.

The sun is shining brightly ouitside, but it is rather deceiving. I wouldn't leave home without a good coat on today. Yesterday I made that mistake and I was rather chilly on the way home. Spring is putting up a good fight with winter, trying it's best to come. I am anxiously waiting to be able to do yard work without having to wear a coat. It'll be soon, so I won't complain.
