What Not to Eat

This past week, we have been dealing with poopiness. Yesterday it hit an all time high. I blame it on the cake that I made for Adam. The one with chocolate frosting. Anyway, yesterday Josh was sitting on my lap "talking" to me when he let loose. I knew it was going to be a good one so I quickly took him to the changing table. It was already too late. Good thing Adam was home because it took two of us to get Josh out of his clothes. Poop had gone half way up his back and thoroughly covered his onesie. Adam said to put him right in the shower, clothes and all. It was a good idea because as soon as we got into the bathroom the poop started running down his legs and dripped onto the bathroom floor. Yup, it was pretty gross. So little Josh got a bath and I learned that I really should be careful what I eat. No more chocolate frosting.

New Tricks

Josh has learned a new trick. Two new tricks actually. One of them is called smiling and is one of the most wonderful things in the world, as is baby talk. Lately, Josh enjoys talking to me and tells me "stories." It is so cute and I can tell he finds it as much fun to talk to me as it is for me to hear him. He also has discovered how to suck his thumb. One day he was lying in his cradle and I was in the kitchen. I heard this strange sound coming from the other room. I thought it was the cat, but upon further investigation, I found it was Josh sucking away, quite furiously, on his thumb. I must admit, it was quite cute.

Getting Bigger

This is Joshua wearing the snowman jammies that his Aunt Hannah bought for him. I know he is really too little to sit in his bumbo seat, but we had to try it out. He was so cute!
Daddy plays with Josh on the floor.
Eating lunch at Grandma's house. Looks like his sockies are getting too small!
Aunt Hannah loves little Josh... Who is not so little anymore.

Josh's First Bath

Josh's very stubborn umbilical cord finally fell off last Thursday evening. I was so excited. I couldn't help but be very anxious to give him his first bath. After all, he was nearly ten weeks old and had never had a proper bath. Sponge baths don't count as proper. Unfortunately, he was going to have to wait a couple more days. Ashleigh's wedding was the next day and we had to leave very early in order to get to New Jersey in time. But Saturday evening, after we had come home, I could wait no longer. We filled the tub with warm water and laid him in it like he was a little fish. He didn't seem to mind... No whining or crying. He was such a good boy and now he was clean. I was quite happy and Joshua seemed pleased too.

A Wedding

This past weekend Mom and I drove down to NJ to see my friend Ashleigh get married. I met Ashleigh when we were both ten years old. Her family had visited our church shortly after moving to NY and I helped her and her sister Bethany find their classrooms. Turned out we had some thing in common and we became friends. The family moved back to NJ in 2003, after Ashleigh went to college. But Ashleigh and Bethany both made the trip back when I got married and I was more than happy to go see Ashleigh get married too. We had a good trip down and it was very nice to see everyone again.
Everyone wanted to hold Joshua, especially Mr. "H" and his brother "Uncle" Ralph. I thought it was funny to see how much the guys liked to hold the baby.

Some Quick Tidbits

A quick post before I run off to wash the dishes, pack my bags, fold the laundry, give Josh a bath and head off to New Jersey to see a friend get married...

Yes, I did say give Josh a bath. Whether or not I 'll have time, I don't know, but his cord FINALLY fell off last night!!! No more cleaning that little thing with rubbing alcohol. I'm so glad to see it go.

Happy birthday to my little brother, who turns twenty today. Oh, we are all getting so old...

Mom and I are going off on an adventure today. We're taking Josh along of course... But we're going to New Jersey because a friend of mine is getting married and we just can't miss such an occasion. Maybe I'll have pictures when we come back...

Happy New Year!

Last night, on New Years Eve, we had a fun family gathering (with a couple friends) at my parents house. We played games, laughed at funny stories and ate tasty food. Jim even got in on the cooking. I guess he's learned a few things since moving to Minnesota. Everybody stayed awake long enough to greet the new year, even Joshua. I guess he wanted to see what the big deal was. He finally fell asleep very shortly after the clock hit 12:00. Then the family all gathered around for a few photos before Jim goes back to Minnesota. Somehow the group just keeps growing! Even Ellie (the dog) got in for the shot. So, from my family to yours, have a Happy New Year! (I'm still getting used to my new camera and that's why the photo is blurry. Practice makes perfect.)
