Mama's Boy

A couple posts ago, I said Josh was all boy. But that fact doesn't keep him from loving his Mommy's things too. He was loving me up the other day and just had to try on my earrings. As for the shoes, they are his absolute fave... Mine too.

So we are leaving tomorrow. I fell better now than I have all day. My house is pretty much clean, the bags are mostly packed, and we have no idea what we really want to do while we are there. But at least our hotel is reserved and the gas tank is full. I think we are as ready as we'll ever be. Please pray for us that we'll have a safe trip and a very enjoyable time together. And that I'll be a sweet wife. I had a hard time being a sweet wife today...

Anyway, I'll be back in a week. Check my Mom's blog, as I'm sure she'll put up cute pictures of Josh while we are away. (hint-hint)

What We Are Going to Be Up To

I had no idea before I looked up this photo that Nashville was such a beautiful place. Adam and I will be spending the whole week in this city starting on Saturday. We've never been there and it's not on my top 10 places to visit, but he has a two day class that he has to take for work in Nashville, so we decided to make a vacation out of it. We are leaving Josh home with my parents, so we'll be kid free. I've been taking suggestions for things to do and so far, I have a little list of possibilities. And since Josh is not coming they don't necessarily have to be kid friendly. Here's a few options:
  • Andrew Jackson's plantation
  • Opera Land Hotel - I hear that there is an indoor boat ride, which sound fun
  • Grand Ole Opry
  • Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman are singing together on April 28. I think I may be too late to get cheap tickets, but that would be really cool...
Anyway, we are leaving this Saturday, so I have 5 days to figure out what we really, really want to do. And on top of that, I will be all by myself while Adam is taking his class. Thankfully, there is a girl that I grew up going to church with who lives in the area. Our plan is to get together for one of those days. I just need to be a big girl and find something to keep myself busy on the other day... But I think this will either be really fun, or really horrible. Really horrible only if Adam is too cranky ;). (That is just a joke, for those of you out there who take me too seriously!)

Wanna Play the "Guess that Fruit" Game?

As I was hanging Joshua's clothes in the closet this evening, I happened upon this strange carcass of a fruit. Months and months and months ago, I had downsized Josh diaper bag and had stashed the bigger bag in his closet. (Very small closet... Not easy for things to get lost in.) I don't even know how I noticed that gross remnant of fruit, especially since I was putting clothes away in semi darkness, as Josh was already in bed. But it was down inside the diaper bag. Ah yes, I was looking for extra hangers and thought maybe one had fallen into his bag. And that is what I scooped out instead. You can imagine my delight in finding such a treasure. I wonder how long it had lain in that bag lost and forgotten. Gross.

He's All Boy

Cars, trucks, tools, ball caps, remote controls, Daddy's boots, dinosaurs, dogs, and things that roar... He's all boy. He'd rather be with Dad, cause that's what little boys are made of.

Stupid

Thanks to faulty wiring, I now am the owner of a ticket for "inadequate lighting". Didn't we just get that headlight fixed a month ago?!? This is my first ticket and I'm pretty upset/disappointed/ ticked about the whole matter. Couldn't the guy give me a break, since we JUST had it fixed after out last headlight ticket? Grump, grump, complain, and grump some more......

Easter Bunny Accident

The Easter Bunny visited our house last night, but I think he/she may have learned not to leave jelly beans hiding in the coffee maker for my husband. You see, any excess of moisture in the coffee maker will cause the beans to, well, turn into a rainbow of tie-died gooey beans. And that is not very appetizing. Maybe next time, Easter Bunny will hide jelly beans in one of his socks. Also it is good to know that hubby is not a fan of jelly beans in the first place. Oops.

How to Outwit Your Offspring: 101

Lunchtime at my house: I feed Josh his fruit cocktail. I know he doesn't like it, so I am prepared. I feed it to him before his mashed potatoes and chicken. He closes him mouth. "No," he says, shaking his head, his little defiant voice still having an edge of cuteness in it's rebellion. How can my son be so obstinate at such a young age? He swipes his hand at my second attempt to get a piece of fruit into his mouth, landing the peach onto the floor. I get out my angry eyes. He shakes his head. I smack his flailing hand. A piece of pear lands on the floor. I mix his fruit cocktail into his mashed potatoes. Oh, sweet victory... Now on to the chicken. Cut into little bits, the chicken is very manageable for a small boy with all his teeth. But still, defiance raises it's ugly head. After one bite, it is quickly decided that chicken isn't very palatable today, even though just days before it was the most delicious. A miniature mass a chewed chicken comes oozing out of Joshua's mouth. Any spitting of food deserves a little smack on the lips, but still defiance and rebellion. Stubborn child. But, once again, a moment of inspiration. I open the fridge, grab the bottle and squirt ketchup over the once denied chicken. Wonderful! Ketchup will now be a household staple. That chicken was gobbled up with delight. Two points for Mom on this quiet day at home.
