Help!

I feel like I'm not doing something that I'm supposed to. Here I am, nearly 16 weeks pregnant, and I just sit around like it's not really happening. Is there something I should be preparing for that I am neglecting? Sure, I know that in less than 30 weeks I'll have a little baby to feed, clothe, cuddle, clean, kiss, etc... But what am I missing? What should I be doing now to prepare for this momentous occasion? Is it okay just to relax and take it easy at the moment? I don't even know what a "birth plan" is or if I should be planning for one yet. So here I am, asking for your help. Remind me of what I am not doing that I should be. Besides trying to prevent puking in the morning. Of which, today I was a failure. What were you doing when there was 24 weeks to go? How did you get ready to become a Mommy and take that baby home with you?

So sorry I can't help. I never got to be a mommy :-( I am sure you are doing just fine and those nesting instincts will kick in soon!

Eat right, get plenty of rest, and enjoy the process. You're doing fine.

I agree with your mom, she's got plenty of expertise. I don't think I was doing anything special at 16 weeks, but around the 7th or 8th month we took a birthing class at the hospital. That was fun and funny too.

Guess I got the rest part right today... Almost two hours between 12:30 and 2:15.

Come to think of it, I had a hard time believing they were actually going to let me take him home!

With Jimmy I hit 16 weeks around April 23rd. As you know I was far from ready! I was about 27 weeks when we arrived in Albuquerque. I had nothing but an outfit or two and a couple of blankets and I was 2000 miles from home.

I'll ditto what everyone else said and add - LOTS of prayer! Prayer for your new baby as well as for you and Adam!! That's the BEST way to prepare to be a mommy. :)

Which I am sure you are already doing!

Ok, as I said, you have a great support system in your family. I might add exercise. Check with your doc, it can relive stress, keep your body toned and make labor easier. Make a lap or baby Quilt. Gather fabric from all the relatives, like your mom's favorite blouse :o), Your aunts and uncles favorite someting etc. and then you have a treasured memory of your pregancy and part of them to pass on to whoever you are growing in that cute belly.

I think I was still at the "huh?" stadge at 16 weeks and wondering how much weight I was going to gain...... sooo not ready, but what I rember is RELAX.
read up on what to do, listen to your family, and just enjoy the ride. the work comes later on in the third trymester.
right now your body is just preparing ( your hormones too).
this is a great time to just pray for wisdom for the coming months.

Don't let yourself feel guilty. Just sleep and relax if you want to!

If I were you I would read a good book about pregnancy and delivery, because when you know what's going to happen you don't get scared and are more in control. (if you have a natural birth) That helped me a lot to know for instance that the pushing stage of the delivery doesn't last forever etc.
Also, very important! To read about breastfeeding. If that is what you want to do (and I strongly recommend it!!) It helped me a lot when I had my first baby.
Here you go. That's my advice. ;-)

I also would recommend breastfeeding (since Gudl brought it up). Along with all the health benefits, it also aids in proper formation of the oral cavity, which affects the shape of the face. AND it's good snuggle time!
