Cure Me!

This week we are dog-sitting for some friends on vacation. Roxy is an American Staffordshire and she is so pretty. It took Louis a while to get used to her, but I think that's just because he's a cat and a cat that doesn't usually care for house guests at that. I'm having lots of fun having a dog this week and the temptation to get one for myself is pretty great. Especially when we are being spoiled with such a nice, house trained, gentle one like Rox. I need to be reminded that puppies need to be trained, have to go potty at night time, pee on the floor, get under foot, and are awfully cute and cuddly. Adam needs reminding too, because he's more apt to go and do something rash, like getting a puppy, than I am. Although I'm the one who looks in the pet section of the D and C. Can a puppy and a baby and a cat mix?

I wouldn't get a puppy just before a new baby, but it's up to you. With a new baby I don't think you'll be able to give a puppy the attention he'll need...but then again maybe that's just me.

I've heard that the wonderful part of being a grandparent is you get to have all the fun without all the responsibility. Maybe, for now, you should just enjoy dog-sitting when Jesse and Leanne need somewhere to leave Roxy and wait for Baby to arrive. You definitely don't need to be getting up in the middle of the night with two babies!

I agree with your aunt and your mother. Dogs are great and I don't regret getting Sherman, but I don't think I could have done it while getting up for a baby in the night. (not to mention caring for a new baby during the day)

Yep, once again your family has sage advice!

Now can you tell Adam? I told him if we get a puppy, that he's the one who'd have to get up in the night to take it out... I'm not too sure if that's how it would work though!

I think it would be a great mix but maybe later. I wouldn't want you to be too overwhelmed with everything!

Adam, you can wait on the dog. Really you can. Come October you will have eyes only for your baby (and wife). In a few years you can get a dog.

Once the baby is there, you will not even really care about the dog anymore! Believe me, the baby will be all that counts!!
Don't get a dog now.
lol
Adam, listen to your friendly GERMAN blogger. ;-)

LOL!! Ok, Beth darlin', here's whatcha do; wake Adam up several times a night, tell him you need to go "out", if he doesn't get up and wander outside like he should, you pour a "puddle" on the floor for him to clean up! Several times of that should cure the puppy fixation. See, you family has much saner advice. :o)

I've got two puppies you can borrow for a couple of nights - maybe that will cure you both! :)
