His Plans

So, here's the deal. Maybe I wouldn't be a good parent if I had two kids. Maybe God just wants me to have one. Maybe He has plans for me that are different than having more kids. It's not horrible to have only one. It may be kind of dull to be an only child, but it's not the end of the world. That being said, Adam and I want to have another baby. I don't want Josh to be an only child. I want him to have someone to play with. I loved having siblings and lots of them. (Most of the time.) But this may become somewhat of a journey. And I want to be clear, that whatever God has for us, I'll be fine with. If God says, "No more kids for you", then maybe after Josh gets older, I will take classes, go to medical school and be a medic on a foreign mission field. Whatever God has... So I am going to allow you all to tag along with me in this little journey of conception. Step one was blood work to see what is up. The results are low progesterone and no ovulation. I could've told you that without the blood work, but now it is official. Adam seems unconcerned about this, because we were able to get pregnant twice before, the first time ending in miscarriage. Either that or he was just blowing me off. I now have an appointment with my Doctor in early December and if anyone has suggestions on how to increase progesterone levels without taking drugs, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give them to me. I would love to have another baby without taking clomid to do so! So there you are. This is why I, at one point, said that you might have to go to China to get anymore grandchildren. (You know who you are.) Except that Adam is completely opposed to adopting, so that really is out of the question.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Oh Boy Beth, my heart goes out to you. I really know nothing about increasing ovulation. If I hear anything that doesn't involve medication I will let you know. It has been one of my struggles of late wondering why some people can get pregant so easily and some can't.I went to Walmart today and I couldn't believe how many very young girls had babies. Why?And then I have about 4 friends that want to be prego and it is just not coming easy for them and they are good Christian couples.Only God really knows why. Then you have me, excited about the baby but a little nervious about being able to have room for another and that I really wasn't ready for another one yet. God only knows. All that said I will be praying for you.I love You!!

Beth. When I was young, I was told I would never have children. I had low hormone levels, and no ovulation. I, as you have, excepted what I was told. Then got Jason. Miracle number one. Then I was told that would not happen again. I tried for four years to get pregnant, and then resorted to clomed. I miscarried, and then got Tori. I was told I would never have children without help. Then Miracle number three. Mandy. I do admit, clomed is the reason I have most of my children, but Jason, Mandy, and Abby, were all God. And all surprises, On Gods schedule. I have lost 5 babies, here, but look forward to meeting them in Heaven. You are a beautiful woman, and you have such a heart for children. Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you. He is faithful. I know you know that. Don't give up on your desires. His desire, is that you disire him, and get your greatest joy, and satisfaction in Him. I look forward to your miracles too. I love you so very much. I am praying for you.

Rather than increasing the progesterone levels you should aim at balancing the hormone levels - especially oestrogen. Soy foods are phytoestrogens and are effective in doing this. In general the more balanced and healthy your diet the more your hormones willbe in balance. Thyme and turmeric have been suggested as progesterone promoters (they are quite drinkable together in a tea). However, if your diet includes a lot of the bad stuff (white flour, white sugar, processed foods and alcohol etc) your body will be fighting without any nutritional help. Remember to keep hydrated and include omega 3 and 6 oils. Good luck

Diet: Eating these foods can help improve your progesterone levels: Wild Yams, walnuts, whole grains, soy milk, red meat, chicken, shellfish, turkey, turmeric, thyme and oregano. Foods that are rich in vitamin B-6, zinc, and promote progesterone production like these can help

There is your best answer. Your Auntie Kim has been there and she knows this stuff. I, on the other hand, must have a progesterone overload or something. :)

I will get the prayers going for you. It seems to be the perfect answer.

Bethany Ann, what an excellent verse to remind you that your journey is totally in God's hands and how much He loves you. I will be praying for you on your journey. I love you!

Bethany, I'll be praying for you also. I liked your Aunt Kim's answer. I also want to tell you that 2 couples in our small group have gone the Clomid route and have been tremendously blessed with children through it. Praying for God to guide you in what he would have you do.

Beth, I've been there, after 2 years of trying and taking the drugs, it just wasn't meant to be. That being said, there are things you can do. Watch the processed foods you eat. Also, watch the meat you eat...the majority of the meat we get from grocery stores have been injected with hormones to grow bigger and faster. It's a bit expensive but I highly suggest you buy organic at all costs...especially chicken and eggs! Avoid caffeine! There are also natual herbs that people have taken to help the hormones too. The internet is your friend, but be very objective about it, not everything works for everyone! Good luck, and if I can help in any way please let me know!

I just wanted you to know I am praying. I have no advice, but I will pray. I can't understand the infertility part... but I can understand waiting a long time for a second child. I didn't always do so great with it. We can talk if you ever want to. And remember Adam is on my list!
