This weekend I am going to be in the wedding of one of my very best friends. Elisabeth and I have been friends since we were ten years old and have gone through thick and thin together. Typically we get pretty goofy, but that's what friends are for. For your viewing pleasure I have attached some goofy pictures taken on "Beach Day" from a few years back. Anyhow, it didn't seem like we were really grown up yet when I got married, but now that she is getting hitched and my other friends are getting married or are engaged, it hits me kinda differently. Maybe we really are growing up now... I mean, Liz will have to live at her own house with her own... dare I say it? ...her own husband. *sigh* Sometimes I long for the days when we were still kids and had no real cares. We would spend our summer afternoons exploring the creek bottoms and rollerskating in the parking lot next door. We'd invent silly games and push each other into snowbanks. We'd "rescue" stray neighborhood cats and dream of our future lives. Now, in just a few short days, Liz will venture off into a brand new adventure. One that will take her from now until she is old and gray. And with the Lord's never ending help, she and her husband will fall more in love and know more about each other than anyone else. They will have good days and bad days, very good days and very bad days. But as Ecclesiates 4:12 says "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

I love your pictures of the girl's day at the beach. It's great to have such wonderful memories captured on film. Don't fret, you'll have many more memory making opportunities in the future. Growing up doesn't mean no fun, it just means the fun changes a little bit. Just look at all the fun you are having with Josh. Soon there will be more little people to make memories with!

I still don't feel grown up...it's kinda hard to believe I'm 39, yikes! Time really flies once you get married and have a family! I guess that means it's fun, after all doesn't "time fly when you're having fun"?
I wish your friend Elizabeth the very best. Just think, pretty soon your children will be playing together!

I totally know what you mean... I don't feel grown up. It was *so* weird to me when my best friend from childhood got married - we're the same age and I'd already been married nearly 2 1/2 years, but I couldn't help but think how young she was... then remind myself how young I was, and how I was basically a glorified child when I got married :-p
My poor parents.

I like that- A glorified child :) That's pretty funny and how I was too- barely 20 yrs old.

What wonderful memories and how strange to think about that all changing. It will be a good change, though. The memories that I have from being married and raising my kids are the best memories ever!

Heather and I were also "glorified children" although I'm not sure I had quite made it to the glorified part...
