Stubborn Pottying
Sometimes I speak too soon. And you all will be glad to hear that Josh does not want to go potty this week. You do not want me to have "wonder-child" nor do you want me to have complete success in potty-training Josh before he is two. That would make you all "look bad". Josh has decided that the toilet is no longer his friend and, even though he is perfectly capable of peeing in the toilet, he kicks and legs and whines. He has only gone once a day since Saturday, compared to the up-to-four-times a day of last week. Last week it was fun for Josh. This week he does not like it. I am discouraged. Say, if he was a year or so older, what advice would you give me? Would you say "Keep sitting him up there", "Put undies on him so he knows when he goes", or "How stupid of you, thinking that a little baby could pee on the potty when they don't know any better"? (If you choose the last phrase, you will no longer be my facebook friend, cause he certainly does knew better, and even cheered for himself last week.)

I don't know what to say. I have no good advice. What worked like a charm for one of my children didn't seem to make a difference with the next. By kid #3, I still didn't know what I was doing while potty training.

I hated potty training and the more children I had, the more I put it off as long as possible. It's your fight, but to me it wasn't worth it if it was all up to me.
I had 2 very different experiences too. Steven was a piece of cake, even training through the night right away. Michael was extremely stubborn. I have video footage of him laying in the floor screaming because he did NOT want to go on the potty or wear "big boy underpants".
I had to delete my previous comment because someone wasn't happy with what I wrote.

Well my friend. I think it would make it fun for you to read and make music, put cherios in there or a frog (fake of course) so he can shoot it.hat ever makes you feel like you are making progress and not giving up. In the end he may not be potty trained at two, but he will learn to love sitting on the toilet, reading playing and having a great time. you will spend your days trying to get him out of the bathroom, and listening to him sing in there. But, for your comfort. Your young man will not graduate from High School in diapers.
I posted on your moms blog about this...keep you head high and your spirits strong...everything will work itself out just the way it's supposed to be.
